Keto Diet Quiz: Get your custom plan now!

Ryan

2023 is rolling around the corner and like many, you are probably wanting to lose a couple of pounds after the holidays. Well, same here. A few years back, my wife and I were getting tired of diets that were hard to follow, and even when we did, we saw little results. I would end up hitting huge cravings and cheating on my diet, starving, and getting hangry (LOL). So after a list of failed diets, we finally tried the keto diet and we never looked back, and one tool that we find helpful is the keto diet quiz, which even created a plan for us!

But while we found it to be useful for us, maybe you are also considering trying the keto diet, but not sure if it’s the right fit for you. I commend you for wanting to do your research first before hopping right into something just because it’s the “fad” thing to do. And let’s be honest with ourselves, the keto diet is a fad. That doesn’t mean it’s bad thing – there are many benefits to this diet – but it’s important to weigh the potential benefits and concerns of this low-carb, high-fat way of eating before making your decision whether or not to follow this system. Most dietitians I believe would agree that this diet should be used for short-term results, and paired with a good workout routine, you can see big results fast.

Benefits of the Keto Diet

So, let’s start off first with the benefits. One potential benefit of the keto diet is obviously weight loss. By cutting carbs and increasing fats, your body enters a state of “ketosis” which means which it begins burning fat as opposed to glucose in your body. This can lead to weight loss and a reduction in appetite, which can be helpful for those looking to shed excess pounds. Additionally, the keto diet has been shown to help with your overall metabolic health, such as lowering cholesterol levels and maintaining a better blood sugar level. Some research also suggests that keto may have neuroprotective effects and may even improve brain function and there is some research being done to show it can possibly help with things like Alzheimer’s and treating Chronic Illness.

Concerns of the Keto Diet

As with anything in life, there are always concerns to be mindful of as well. One concern is the lack of fiber in this diet, as it normally limits fruits and vegetables that are high in fiber. However, there are still ways to get fiber into your system, by means of nuts, seeds, and leafy greens. Another concern is the potential for nutrient deficiencies, as certain nutrients, such as vitamin C and potassium, may be harder to implement into a keto diet. To ensure you are still getting these necessary nutrients into your system, it’s important to choose nutrient-dense foods or consider taking supplements if needed. Another concern is you may begin feeling more constipated on this diet. If you do, ensure you find additional ways to get fiber into your system so you can stay regular. A good online quiz I would suggest is from Keto Creator. By answering a few questions, it will produce a custom plan for you based on a lot of varying factors such as what types of meats and fats you want to include in your diet, and will create an entire strategy and meal plan customized to you and your weight loss goals.

My thoughts on the Keto Diet

For me, I personally go to the Keto diet in spurts and not as a long-term solution. I normally tend to lose around 10lbs but when I first did it, I believe I achieved nearly a 20 lb loss – and even with those huge losses, I never hit huge cravings as I did on other diets.

I believe the keto diet is a great option for short-term solutions because as mentioned before, it’s a diet that does miss out on some necessary nutrients. I normally do the diet for a month, which I find is definitely enough time to hit my weight loss goal and then begin working back into my diet other necessary nutrients, and yes, even some guilty pleasures, such as ice cream. However, because Keto is such a huge diet plan nowadays, there are many amazing desserts and ice creams that are Keto-friendly, so you can even enjoy them while you’re on the diet as well!
